3some

Went for a play today called 3some, but 2 guys. Was quite abstract, so I think it was about humans and humans perceptions about people from other nationalities. The 2 guys were a German and an Israeli.

The beginning had the German guy saying that the 3rd person, a Palestinian actress pulled out last minute and said the audience was supposed to participate in some part of the play, due to 'the last minute change in plans'. This was different to the synopsis as well. The show started late and at first I believed the actor. I guess this was just to show that things are not always as you read or hear, sometimes very different. Guess the actor was really good at his trade as well...

Another scene had them talking about how people negatively react to their nationalities, and their prejudices prevented these people from understanding the actor's personalities. And when stereotyped, people somehow become something that we actually not.

One last scene I will comment was the part where the Israeli guy was talking about a cat, which he found as a kid and killed when playing with it. My take was that sometimes we adopt the child like innocence, not fully comprehending the impact of our actions.

Having said some thoughts, I think everyone else in the audience would have different thoughts, from different scenes, making a greater impact on how they felt about this play. I found the thing overall as quite unorthodox, maybe cos I have never seen such a thing before. Thankfully there was a dialog session after the play and in answering a question one of the actors said there was no particular point that they were trying to drive home, what you take from the play is what you take from the play.

I guess I would like to watch another 'small-time play' in the near future, when something of interest pops up. Guess they add a very different dimension to what we would consider entertainment.

RAAAARRRR!!!!!!!

So, what'd you think of the first violent act on a singapore politician in recent history.

Some would go so far as to call it an assasination attempt, others would say its just a variation of an everyday occurance citng verbal abuse as one form of attack.

What do you think?
