Here's the answer to an interesting observation I made a while back.
Turns out that there is indeed an explanation for the apparent coincidence.
It has to do with the fact that the meter was originally defined to be the length of a seconds pendulum...
You learn something new everyday!

interesting, would have guessed that a meter was taken from some body part, like a foot should be from someone's foot...
